2. Course description This exciting one year course offers a broad introduction to the main areas of professional art & design practice. The First Diploma experience is designed to provide an excellent bridging year for students who wish to improve their art & design qualifications profile or develop more confidence in a wide range of art & design skills. In addition to studio based work a number of trips and visits to exhibitions and locations throughout the course will introduce you to the world of art and design and help to inspire your creative project work.

3. Entry requirements A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English Language maths and an art or design related subject. If you have not taken an art related subject at GCSE you will be required to show a portfolio of work. 4. Equipment required Please enquire at your interview. 5. Assessment method The course units are delivered through exciting assignment briefs which simulate a real-life experience of working in the creative industries. You will also work to briefs set by local industry or community organisations; this will enable you to receive real feedback from clients. Your practical project work will be assessed by yourself and your peers; it will then be graded by your tutors throughout your course and you will be given regular feedback to help you improve the standard of your work.
