2. Course description The course offers students the opportunity to study a wide range of Art and Design subjects. It is ideal for those aiming to progress to higher education and careers in the art and design industries but have not settled on a specialism. The course enables the most able students to progress to HE without the need for the additional Foundation year. You will be taught by a range of experienced staff many of who are practicing Artists. Field trips and visits to exhibitions are organised throughout the course to help inspire you and develop a thorough knowledge of art and design enabling you to choose a specialist pathway for the second year of the course. The course units are delivered through assignment briefs and the completion of practical project work. Your work is assessed by your tutors and the grades awarded are externally verified by the exam board.

3. Entry requirements A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English Language an art and design related subject. If you have not taken an art related subject at GCSE you will be able to submit a portfolio of work. 4. Equipment required Please enquire at your interview. 5. Assessment method Assessment is continuous. You will be marked on both practical and written project work which will provide the evidence on which your grades will be based. There is no formal exam at the end of the course. You will be encouraged to work independently using your own initiative and solutions.
