Course programme
Course review:
The main body of the course will take the form of experiential workshops in which students will be encouraged to discover their own creative process and explore images that emerge, both individually and within the group. Alongside this, leaning will take place through seminars, examples of case studies and projects completed between workshops. The workshops, seminars and discussion will offer an introduction into the history, theory and practice of art therapy. We will be looking at both the group and individual therapeutic process and the nature of and differences between art and art therapy. We will also be examining specific approaches and applications of art therapy with a variety of different client groups.
No previous formal experience of art making is required, but it is important to be prepared to take part in image-making and discussion. This course is limited in student numbers to provide an experiential training group format (maximum 12 students) and facilitated by a qualified and experienced registered art therapist.
The Course will run on Tuesday evenings from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm in addition to two Saturdays from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
