Why should I come to Pendleton College?

Each student will be given the opportunity to experience quality practical training from our excellent network of work placements.
What will I study?
To gain the award the candidate must complete and pass all units. Unit titles are:
- Personal Development
- Human Growth and Development (birth to old age)
- Food and Nutrition
- Health and Safety Practices
- Care of Children
- Play Activities
- Orientation to Work
What will I achieve?
The basic skills gained may be used as progression to further studies, such as Certificate in Child Care and Education, NVQ Level 2 or GNVQ Intermediate in Health and Social Care.
How is the course assessed?
There will be a short answer paper at the end of the course. Students must present a portfolio of work. There are five nationally assessed units and students must gain a satisfactory tutor's report.
What else will I do?
Students will be provided with the opportunity to work in a local nursery or playgroup to gain some valuable work experience. There will be many visits and trips organised such as the theatre, cinema, bowling, zoo and concerts.
