This course will teach you how to be more assertive and confident in a range of situations. You will increase awareness of your own behaviour and some of the reasons for it. You will learn about the differences between assertive, aggressive and passive behaviour and the impact these have on relationships both at work and at home. You will have the opportunity to develop and try out a range of assertiveness techniques and to focus on situations most relevant to yourself.

About this course

To provide an understanding of different behaviour types and how they can affect other people
To analyse own assertiveness skills and identify situations where you would benefit from being more assertive
To practice and develop a range of assertiveness techniques e.g. how to make a request; how to say 'No'; how to handle criticism etc.

This course is intended for anyone who would like to increase their confidence and to communicate assertively in a range of situations at work or life in general.

There are no requirements for joining this course.

Certification of attendance can be provided on request.

The Assertiveness course can be delivered in-house with the content tailored to suit the organisation and the level of those attending.

In-house courses can be delivered throughout Scotland and in N. Ireland.

  • Handling conflict calmly and avoiding aggressive behaviour
  • How to give feeback when someone behaves in ways you do not like
  • Making actions notes for putting assertiveness skills into practice
