This qualification sets the standard for those involved in assessing NVQs. It is designed to be "candidate friendly" and involves extensive one-to-one support for assessor candidates.

Program
Course objectives/key benefits:
On completion candidates will be able to:
· Assess candidates using differing methods of evidence collection
· Make assessment decisions
· Give constructive feedback
· Assess against national standards
· Contribute to the Internal Quality process
Who the course is aimed at:
Those who are involved in the assessment of NVQs. Candidates are encouraged to work with their own sector specific qualifications.
Course content:
· Candidates are supported by an assessor who works closely with the candidate and assists them as they build a portfolio of evidence. The assessor will visit the candidate in their place of work to observe them and advise on portfolio construction as appropriate.
· Candidates will be expected to attend an induction onto the award where they will be issued with a portfolio to help with the construction of their own
· Further meetings will be arranged to progress the candidate through the qualification
It is expected that most candidates will achieve the qualification within 12 months. If not achieved within the agreed timescales there may be additional costs.
Course outcome/qualification:
· A1 Assess Candidates' Using A Range of Methods
· A2 Assess Candidates' Performance Through Observation
Pre-requisite knowledge/qualification:
· Qualification in the occupational area they will be assessing
· Access to two NVQ candidates
