Advantages of studying here

Athena brings passion to safeguarding. Working with us transforms your organisation, guides your people and makes a safer place for children and vulnerable adults. Caring and creativity is at the heart of everything we do.

As part of the Athena Team we pride ourselves on our associates. They work with us on our mission and cement with our values. The Athena Associates come from a variety of backgrounds that represent every sector offering a diverse range of expert knowledge and skills. They grow with us through team work, quality assurance processes and being part of the Athena family. They tend work on a project basis alongside the creative training manager or consultancy manager.

We work with a variety of voluntary, public and private organisations - anyone that comes in to contact with children, young people and their families and/or works with the elderly and vulnerable adults.

We have worked with senior managers, operational managers, practitioners, policy officers, health professionals, social workers, teachers, police officers, neighbourhood teams, housing officers, youth workers, early years workers, volunteers … please find your sector to tell you more.

Description

We train staff and volunteers to make sure they can confidently safeguard children, young people and adults at risk. We will make you into a safer organisation, ensuring you are fully compliant and optimise your people and resources. We make protection ‘real’.

When you train with us you’ll take part in a whole multitude of innovative ideas and creations that will transport you to the heart of the critical safeguarding issues you need to know about. We believe that training should be a rewarding, fun and exciting experience for all participants.

In our training courses we use the creative arts, such as, Lego, puppets, toys, games, scenarios, a variety of innovative and newly designed exercises, socio-drama, role play, and many more ideas and creations to involve participants in the subject matter. These techniques are known as ‘action methods’ and will enable you to view safeguarding from a variety of perspectives other than your own.

You’ll delve into your chosen topic using creative abilities you didn’t know you had and discover training methods that are compelling and entertaining. The experience will leave you brimming with new knowledge and understanding about key safeguarding issues.

Our groups are facilitated with an understanding of adult experiential learning, natural spontaneity and creativity through activities which foster connection, trust, safety and a sense of lively exploration.
