Overview
If you want to explore the skills needed to become a professional actor - and also develop your ability as a singer – then this course is for you. This degree will enable you to become a self-reflective practitioner who can think, write and develop their own work.

Why choose this course?
You will study Eastern and Western European theatre, and concentrate on a variety of acting styles. In the third year you will get the opportunity to promote your work to leading industry professionals in masterclasses, workshops, mock auditions and in the West End agents’ showcase.

You will have access to flexible performance spaces with lighting and sound equipment, a dance studio, rehearsal rooms and additional external facilities, including professional theatre venues.

We encourage you to critically assess the global influences acting has as an art form, and we reference these in lectures and workshops. You will study:

Entry requirements
You will need:
120-128 UCAS tariff points (or equivalent) normally in a minimum of two subject areas
GCSE English and Maths (grade A*-C) or Level 2 equivalent.
You are welcome to apply even if you don't have any formal qualifications. Your application will be considered on its individual merits taking into account your professional, work and life experiences and also your ability to engage with and benefit from the course. You must also show equivalent competencies in English and Maths.

Course programme

Course detail
An understanding of the history of theatre will inform your practical studies in acting, movement, voice and singing – providing context and integrity to your performance work.

In your third year you will have the opportunity to perform in three full-scale productions – including an agents’ showcase in the West End. You will also explore acting for camera and radio. In all these projects, and throughout the entire course, you will be taught by leading practitioners – many of whom still work actively within the profession.

During this course you will gain:
a unique, exciting and demanding training in professional acting
practical skills, knowledge and experience you need to enter the acting industry
the ability to be a self-reflective practitioner – an artist who can think, who can write, who can create their own work
training as an actor, and will also develop your skills in singing
