Overview
At UWL we blend both elements from a fashion and textile industry to develop career ready individuals, focuses on developing innovative independent thinkers within print, knit and fashion.
This course will help you develop your own design voice, as well as to build confidence in the presentation of ideas visually and verbally. We have strong links with industry, such as high profile guest speakers. Combined with the high-level technical skills and knowledge you will acquire, you will be equipped to compete in a global economy.

About this course

Entry requirements
We welcome applications from students holding a BTEC National Diploma in a fashion, textiles, art or design-related subject, or a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
112 UCAS points at Level 3, which would normally include at least two subject areas, including an art and design related subject, plus GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above.
We welcome applications from mature students, or students with relevant work experience. If you have no formal qualifications we will consider you on an individual basis.

Course detail
This course integrates industry-based learning with development of your creative, technical and intellectual skills. Throughout the course there is a focus on:

As you progress though the course you will:
have the opportunity to experiment in all aspects of fashion textile design.
receive support to make an informed decisions on a specialist pathways from:

fashion knit.
In the second year of the course you will:
gain high level skills in your chosen pathway
develop personal design briefs as well as designing for a market
develop your understanding of design fundamentals and how to apply these for a given market, cross disciplinary design teams of print and knit
develop collections for companies such as Nike, Cos, Next and Topshop.
We will focus on integrating employability into taught sessions helping you become a flexible and employable designer. This will enable you to identify personal career aspirations and tailor your learning journey towards these goals.
In your final year you will lead your own development and direction through a combination of writing personal briefs and negotiating creative directions with your specialist tutor.
