The Film, Visual Effects and Animation degree programme is for students who are interested in the digital manipulation and abstract representation of our visual reality. The aim of the programme is to produce versatile digital artists with a unique complementary set of traditional and digital filmmaking skills.
Our One-Year Visual Effects & Animation course constitutes the first year of our BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking degree.
The Visual Effects component of the course is taught using industry standard 3d and 2d compositing software. By the end of the year, students will be able to shoot their own HD footage and successfully integrate CG elements using a combination of Maya, Boujou and Nuke.
In the Animation component of the course, students will develop the acting and storytelling skills in order to tell short stories successfully. By the end of the year, students will have developed the technical skills required to create and animate their own 3D characters using a combination of Maya, Mudbox and Photoshop.
In addition, you will develop an understanding of film history, movements and style. Through your enhanced understanding of film you will acquire essential critical analysis skills and a thorough appreciation of contemporary industry practice.
