About this Course

The BA (Hons) Theatre, Acting and Performance is a largely practical and highly demanding drama course underpinned by academic study.



The course offers many opportunities to study a wide range of drama techniques; including the creation of immersive one-to-one performance, musical theatre, devising performance, site specific performance, television and film acting, theatre in education and contemporary theatre among others.

Course Summary

This course offers a broad based curriculum with the opportunity for learners to have influence and choice on the way they study.



Modules include: Approaches to acting 1 (naturalism) and approaches 2 (alternatives) Television and screen acting Acting with mask and movement Theatre in education, applied and community arts Devising innovative, experimental techniques, stimulus and performance Site specific performance and origins Personal and professional development (industry placement) Integrated final performance Creative arts research project/dissertation Preparation, process and production Facilitated individual performance study and demonstration

Why study with us?
Rotherham College’s Performing Arts department has first class facilities and equipment. The in-house and touring performance projects have an excellent reputation and offer numerous opportunities for the application of theatre.

Students have plenty of opportunities to make industry links and take part in numerous theatre trips/workshops; including Open Minds Theatre, RADA workshop, Boal Workshops, Crucible theatre visits and a short film school residential with media.

Entry requirements
You will need a minimum of 160 UCAS points from a combination of the following:
  • Minimum of two GCE A-Levels to include a drama based subject
  • BTEC Extended Diploma
  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Access - Pass at Level 3
  • Diploma in Foundation Studies - Pass
A formal interview and audition will be arranged with the course tutor.

What can I progress to?
  • You can progress onto further study on a PGCE at Rotherham College
  • You can continue your studies with a master degree
  • You can progress into acting and arts related pathways including community and arts organisational work or freelance employment
