About this course
The most important thing you need is a genuine interest in Performing Arts, a willingness to explore new ideas and the ability to communicate your ideas effectively. However, students who have experience of Performing Arts or related subjects, or who have been involved in productions, may find the course most suitable to them.

Performing Arts - Acting BTEC National Diploma
This full-time practical course will suit you if you wish to go on to work in the Performing Arts or study this area at a higher level. You will develop your individual knowledge and skills, through workshops, devising and developing performances and working from texts to develop full productions. Group projects are a key part of the course, and you will learn about up to date working practices within the industry. Classes will take place in a specialist performance space.
You will have the opportunity to perform in a range of projects, from Touring Shows, Film and Radio Acting and full-scale Theatre Productions, and take part in theatre trips and professional workshops. The main emphasis of the course is drama but there will be an element of movement and/or dance.
What will I study?
Over the two years you will study a wide variety of core subjects and option units (18 in total).
You will take 5 core units:

How will I be assessed?
The course is primarily a practical one. Continuous assessment of projects and assignments will take place throughout the course, including performances, presentations, practical or written work. In the second year your Final Major Project will be externally assessed.
