About this course
Sturdy footwear should be worn and although we can all comfortably work under shelter should it rain, it is worth bringing suitable clothing for the short walk across the meadow to the woodland workshop, and this path can get muddy.

Course programme
This is a two day course exploring the world of Bushcraft.
It is a packed two days with everyone going home tired, with a head full of knowledge and hand-crafted woodland treasures.
Over the two days we cover knife safety, various carving techniques, and basic knots. Guests learn to make a 'debris hut' which offers a way to stay alive pretty much anywhere in the northern hemisphere. We also teach how to use fire safely and how to create it in the same way that has been used for thousands of years, leading on to carving a personal bow drill kit and finding out how to use it effectively and efficiently.
During the course we collect and purify water, looking at the solar still, seep and primitive purification systems. On our wanders we look out for and forage useful and medicinal plants, learn about primitive trapping and hunting methods and the ancient art of stalking. Guests also get a chance to try their hand at the atlatl, throwing stick, and many dynamic traps.
This course is run by Adam Hendley, our resident Bushcrafter, whose kind, calm approach to teaching puts everyone at ease and assures a good time is had by all. Guy Mallinson assists.
Tools are also supplied for your use during the course within this price.
The days run from 9.00 (tea and coffee) for a 9.30 start and finish at approximately 5.00pm. As well as stopping for lunch, we break for tea, coffee, biscuits and cake during the morning and afternoon. We promise not to work you too hard! It's a really good, simultaneously relaxing and productive time.
We aim to down tools at approximately 5.00 p.m. on both days. If you are arranging to be collected then any time after 5.15 is good. However, at the end of day two we like to sit down for a glass of something ... so rather than miss out, it's best to plan for 5.30 onwards on the second day. Of course, whoever is collecting you is welcome to come down to the woods, any time after 5.00.
Full directions are supplied on booking.
