The diploma offers an excellent starting point for those who are seeking a career in floristry. Covering basic floristry skills, focusing on how to use colour, texture and balance within commercial designs, funeral and wedding work, along with work experience in a retail florist. Students also benefit from industry speakers and demonstrations, along with educational trips to Chelsea Flower Show, Covent Garden and the flower auctions in Holland.
What qualifications will I need?
Previous experience not required. Basic education, flair for colour and an interest in flowers and plants an advantage.

What is involved?
Study at Kingston Maurward College 2 days per week and undertake 200 hours work experience throughout the academic year, covering Mothers Day, Valentines Day and Christmas with a local floristry business. Lectures, practical instruction and demonstrations.
Where will it take me?
Employment with florist shops, hotels, garden centres and freelance designers. The course can also be used as a progression to further study on the National Certificate course.

Tetanus recommended.
