Summary
This Level 2 Certificate in Basic First Aid is a vocationally related qualification that provides candidates with an opportunity to study and be assessed in both practical and theoretical aspects of everyday emergency first aid. Included in the cost of the course is: £25 Materials Cost.
About the Course
On successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Basic First Aid, candidates should be able to:-
* demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the duties, responsibilities, general treatment principles and priorities of first aid provision to adults;
* demonstrate an understanding of basic anatomy and physiology;
* demonstrate Initial Patient Assessment and appropriate use of barriers and infection control;
* recognise and respond to life threatening conditions that require resuscitation;
* recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common illnesses;
* recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of common injuries; and
* demonstrate knowledge, understanding and appropriate use of first aid equipment.
Course Aims
To provide candidates with the skills, knowledge and understanding of first aid to provide appropriate care and manage life threatening conditions, illness and injuries sustained in a sport and activity environment.
To offer the opportunity for those appointed as first aiders to provide quality and effective first aid care in a sport and activity environment. This is achieved through an understanding of the general duties, responsibilities and treatment principles of first aid.

Candidates will be assessed against the assessment criteria of the qualification via a combination of internal and external assessment components.
Internal Assessment - Practical asssessment of skills combined with oral questioning of underpinning knowledge and understanding covering the entire qualification.
External Assessment - A multiple choice question paper
