On completion of the course, delegates should understand:

Understand the requirements of the relevant legislation
Rig, inspect, handle, store and use in a safe and proper manner any accessories used with winches
Operate safely specific types of winches and carry out pre/post inspection
Select combinations of equipment to meet safety requirements
Establish the weight, centre of gravity, balance and dimensions of loads
List the factors which must be considered when planning a winching operation
Explain the correct and incorrect operation of winches
