The European Computer Driving Licence (or ECDL) BCS level 1 - ECDL Essentials is a European-wide qualification that enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. Assessment:
There is a test at the end of each Unit that leads to gaining the qualification.
Course Leads To:
On successful completion of this course it will lead to the BCS level 2 - ECDL Extra. Students completing both level 1 and level 2 will be awarded a full ECDL qualification!

Unit A - Basic Concepts of Information Technology (I.T)
This unit requires the candidate to know about the basic physical makeup of a computer and understand some of the basic concepts of I.T. Such as data storage and memory, the context for computer-based software applications in society, and the users of information networks within computing.
Unit B - Using the Computer and Managing Files
This unit requires the candidate to demonstrate knowledge and competence in using the basic function of a computer and its operating system. The candidate shall be able to operate effectively within the desktop environment. He or she shall be able to manage and organise files and folders and know how to copy, move and delete files and folders.
Unit C- Information and Communication
The unit requires the candidate to accomplish basic web search tasks using a web browser & search engine tools, and demonstrate their ability to use electronic mail to send & receive email messages inc files
