About this course

There are no formal qualifications required for this course, however Grade C's and D's in at least Science/English is preferred. You will need to be able to research for your assignments in your own time, and practice your practical skills at home (approximately 6 hours of study per week plus practical).
This is an intensive course, which requires commitment and dedication on your part

Beauty Specialist Techniques VTCT Diploma Level 2

About the course:
This is a one-year course designed to provide a comprehensive training in Beauty Therapy. An important part of the course is the Anatomy and Physiology which underpins a good therapist's practical procedures.

As you will become competent in a number of treatments, this will enable employers to provide more choice to clients in the workplace. You will learn to perform various treatments throughout the working day and how to maximise time and benefits. There are good opportunities for work offering beauty specialist treatments in salons or as a mobile therapist.

Course Content:
This course covers the main techniques used by Beauty Specialists concerned with treatments for the head, neck, hands and feet. These include make-up, facial treatments - massage and skin care, lash and brow treatments, nail manicure and pedicure, plus wax depilation and fake tanning. This course offers the fundamentals and underpinning skills for a beauty therapist. Further optional units are available for other associated treatments. Successfully completing this qualification will enable you to provide all general beauty treatments in a safe and effective manner.

Equipment Requirements:
You will be required to wear suitable salon wear, which consists of a Black tunic and trousers, black salon shoes, discounted salon clothing is available from us. If you would like a form please ask.

You will also be required to purchase a make up and beauty kit, which is approximately £150.00 plus Tunic and Text Book
Please ensure that you collect the order forms for the above items from the Information & Advice Team and order before the start of the course.

You will be expected to provide models for your practical assessments who will be expected to contribute to the cost of consumables.

Assessment:
You will need to be able to research for your assignments in your own time, and practise your practical skills at home. (approximately 6 hours of study per week plus practical)

You will also complete unit assignments that will make up your portfolio of evidence and you will be required to complete an externally set end of unit assessment papers.

Progression:
Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques offers progression to further qualifications such as the VTCT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Beauty Therapy, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Indian Head Massage and a range of more specialised qualifications at Levels 2 to 3, including qualifications in media make-up, remedial camouflage and epilation or to employment in estabilshments offering beauty therapy techniques.

It should be noted that a good standard of physical health is required as beauty therapy can be physically demanding. certain skin conditions may be affected by this type of work.
