NVQ Beauty Therapy Level 1 * Additional qualification in Make-up Techniques is available to those who complete the level 1 qualification in 18 weeks.

Description of the Course
This course is designed as an opening to a career in Beauty Therapy. It develops skills & knowledge as an introduction to Beauty Therapy and can help you gain an insight into the Beauty Industry.
Course content
Mandatory units

· G1 - Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health & Safety.
· G2 - Assist with Salon Reception duties.
· BT1 - Prepare and maintain the Beauty Therapy work area.
· BT2 - Assist with Facial Treatments.
· BT3 - Assist with Nail Treatments on the hands.
· Additional make-up qualification is available for those who complete all the level 1 units in 18 weeks.
· You will be required to attend External visits and Enrichment activities.

Assessment
Coursework, practical observations, assignments, external exams, case studies & work experience. All students throughout the course are required to supply some of their own models for practical assessments.
Who is the course for?
Entry requirements
An Average Grade Point of 3 or better on prior qualifications & GCSE English & Science grade E or better. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and skills in an interview. Over 19's will undertake a basic skills screener and demonstrate life skills or relevant experience.
What can I do after this course?
NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification/Work in a Department Store. Progression onto level 2 is subject to a selection process.
