Who is this course for?
If you like working with people and have an interest in working in a medical setting this course would suit you.
What previous knowledge/experience are required?
You do not need any qualifications, but your English needs to be of a reasonable standard, Entry Level 3 or above.
What is the level of the course?
This course is level One.
What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
This course will provide you with the skills you need to progress to Medical Administration Certificate Level 2, or employment. You will work on your language skills and cover the following modules : Administration Skills Working with others Dealing with difficult people Medical terminology The organisation of the NHS
What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
You will work in small groups, and independently. You will use the internet for research, and you will work through assignments. You will go on visits to medical settings.
How will we assess your progress on the course?
We will observe your progress, your participation in group discussions, and through assignments.
What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
You will gain a Level 1 literacy qualification and a Working Men's College Certificate for the Medical Administration aspects of the course.
What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
You will be expected to complete homework outside the class.
What can I do after completing this course?
On Successful completion of the course you can apply for suitable jobs or progress onto our Medical Administration Certificate or Diploma course. You could progress to the Skills for Jobs project to brush up on your employability skills prior to applying for work.
