This course will provide you with the means to become a more active and informed citizen. It will make you a more skilled internet user and enable you to make critical judgements of the information you find on-line. We will look at how to find out information both from the government and about it, including the services it provides and the information it releases. We will also look at how essential services such as health, banking and voting are becoming increasingly digitalised and rely on you to have skills to access them. Finally, in the world of Breitbart, alt-right and Brexit, we look at ‘fake news’. What does reliable news mean, and where can you find it?
