Scholarships:
For UK / EU students, there are scholarships for students with AAB or above at A Level (or equivalent), household income-based scholarships and placement scholarships.
For international students, the School of Engineering offers a £3000 scholarship to students who can demonstrate a high level of achievement in their academic studies (eg grades AAA or CGPA 3.6+)

Electrical power engineering is concerned with the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power. It has wide ranging applications, including renewable energy, leading to a high demand for graduates in this area. The electrical industry is one of the UK's largest industrial sectors and plays a key role in the UK economy.
The electrical power engineering sector underpins all aspects of modern life and faces increasing challenges to maintain high reliability of supply, whilst improving efficiency and an effective response to the need to reduce carbon emissions and the associated contribution to global climate change. Power Engineers of the future will need expertise, not only in traditional power engineering, but also in renewable energy technologies, power electronics, digital communications and data acquisition and control systems.
Aston University has a strong relationship with the UK Power Sector and this programme has been designed to deliver a strong industrial and practical focus to meet the needs of this sector
We will provide you with a broad-based education to give you competence in a wide range of electrical power engineering disciplines. You will begin with the fundamental principles such as electrical principles, energy conversion, electronics, computing, mathematics and project management. Theory is married to practice with extensive laboratory-based practical work fully integrated with the lecture material throughout the course. The second and final years of the programme will allow you to develop your broad-based skills in Electrical Power Engineering, with many aspects being consolidated by reference to industrial case studies. The placement year and the final year six-month design project will allow you to focus your skills in a particular industrially focused specialism relating to electrical power engineering, e.g. renewable energy, distributed generation, smart grids and automation etc.
