  • My overall experience at Coventry university has been great there haven't been too many problems with my course and even when I had problems the university helped me sort them out and overall I'm very happy at my university. That the course pages on moodle are updated regularly by the lecturers to provide important and useful information on the course material to help with upcoming quizzes, exams and coursework. The lecturers are easily approachable and can be found using their theta sessions or email to ask them about any queries regarding the course or material that has been confusing. The facilities at Coventry are excellent, both in the city and no campus. We have access to labs for extra time on work, software that can be accessed on any university computer (within reason) not just on certain computers allowing for flexibility when it comes to needing a certain software at a certain time. The fact that we have wifi that can be accessed can help when we want to use our own device to research - if there are no computers available.

The MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering curriculum consists of a fixed menu of study and a substantial MSc project. Successful completion of all elements leads to the award of MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Completion of the taught modules without a project leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma.

The mandatory modules are as follows:

  • Digital System Design with VHDL
  • Electrical Machines and Drives
  • Power Systems
  • Digital Signal and Image Processing
  • Robotics: Kinematics, Dynamics and Applications
  • Measurement and Sensor Technology
  • Microprocessor Applications

The substantial individual project gives students the opportunity to work on a detailed area of related technology alongside an experienced academic supervisor. Some projects are offered in conjunction with the work of the Faculty’s Research Centres or industry.

Typical project titles include:

  • Embedded network interface development for measurement instruments;
  • Wireless sensors for industrial thermocouple temperature monitoring;
  • Power system network simulation;
  • Wind turbine generator simulation.
