Description
The main objectives of this qualification are to provide a sound knowledge and understanding of body massage to enable practitioners to work safely and confidently. Primarily for stress relief, lymphatic drainage and as a basis for a wide variety of outcomes. This is the first stage and most commonly taken qualification for body massage.
The qualification requires 15 case studies to be undertaken.
The qualification is suitable for those interested or employed in the beauty therapy, health and fitness therapies, holistic therapies and in association with a wide range of other treatments designed to relieve stress.
It will also be compulsory for all students who do not have VTCT Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology to also take this qualification along side this course. It will therefore be necessary to enrol onto both programmes in this case.
A minimum of 80% attendance is required by the Awarding Body.
Course Length
One Year - (Two evenings)
What will I study?
The units are:
Unit 301 - Principles and practice of Complementary & Alternative Therapies
Unit 303 - Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
Unit 305 - Prepare for and provide Body Massage Therapy
Unit 311 - Health, Safety and Hygiene
How will I learn?
The course will be taught using a mixture of approaches, including demonstrations, directed learning, independent study, tutorials, internal and external assessments.
How will I be assessed?
Units will be re assessed internally and externally.
A portfolio of assessment evidence will be developed and produced at the end of the course.
Where could it lead?
City and Guilds qualifications in Complementary Therapies, Aromatherapy, Relexology, Indian Head Massage and Beauty Therapy.
Employment/self employment as a masseur/masseuse.
