Course programme

Water bylaws have been a fact of life for plumbers for a long time, the first recorded water bylaws in the UK were introduced in Manchester in the 19th Century. In 1999 WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) introduced the revised Water Regulations and Bylaws which now apply to England and Wales.

Most Companies in the UK do not directly operate their own Approved Contractor scheme, they utilise the services of WIAPS a scheme that they finance and run (The Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme). Members of this scheme are deemed approved by the local water undertaker.

To join a scheme an operative must be competent, have adequate insurance and be knowledgeable on the Water Regulations and Bylaws 1999 or Water Byelaws in Scotland .

All the Approved Contractor schemes accept the BPEC Water Regulations and Bylaws 1999 qualification for the purposes of the knowledge element of the scheme entry criteria.

The Water Regulations & Bylaws 1999 consists of a 1/2 day of training followed by 1/2 day of assessment. The core of the course is the BPEC Training Manual, this is sent out 2 to 3 weeks before the course data and you are strongly advised to work through the material and self assessment exercises before under taking the training and assessment.

The course fee includes the full BPEC Training Manual, DVD and the certification fee, lunch is also provided. Upon successful completion of the assessment you will be issued with a certificate and ID Card by BPEC (takes approx 10 days to arrive).

Please note: If you need the manual to be posted out to you then we will need to make an additional small charge for this (currently it's about £9.75), however, you are very welcome to come and pick up the manual in person.
