About this course
BSc Professional Practice in Healthcare will allow you to demonstrate an understanding of knowledge and a critical awareness of current practice and service delivery. Throughout the course you will have access to a range of learning opportunities to promote your transformation into a graduate registered nurse, able to examine your current practice through a critical lens and transform learning into professional practice. You will undertake two core 20 credit modules and one module selected from a range of options (a total of 60 credits).
Progression to BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Healthcare
Successful completion of the BSc Professional Practice in Healthcare will provide an opportunity to progress to the full BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Healthcare. This will require you to study a further three modules (60 credits) which must include 6HW032 Research and Evidence Based Practice module.
During these undergraduate studies you will demonstrate originality in the application of knowledge, together with a practical understanding of how evidence based practice underpins healthcare practice.

The module is suitable for all registered practitioners caring for acutely ill patients, in general ward areas, specialist wards and departments (e.g. respiratory, cardiology), Medical/Surgical Admissions Units and Emergency Departments. The module will focus on supporting your development of the underpinning theory to develop your knowledge and clinical skills, to care for the acutely ill patient. This module aims to enable you as an experienced, registered health care professional to critically examine knowledge and theoretical principles that guide best tissue viability practice in order to enhance the quality of patient care.
- You must have current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
- For this BSc (Hons) you must have 120 credits at level 4 (Certificate) and 120 credits at level 5 Diploma) from a healthcare related programme of study./li>
- You must be employed in a healthcare setting in the United Kingdom (UK).
- Applicants should apply directly to the University and if seeking support from an employer should agree means of financial support (if applicable) and negotiated time to attend university in advance of an application.

Financial Hardship:
Students can apply to the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund for help with course related costs however this cannot be used for fees or to cover general living costs.
