Course programme
You will have three days in college, with a mix of theory and practical work in specialist animal units, for example reptile, aquarium and mammal. You will also have one day at a work placement per week. The course involves industrial visits to zoos, sanctuaries and animal centres.
On this programme you will:
- study and develop skills in the science, husbandry and welfare of animals and more specific aspsects of the industry
- learn to understand and promote animal health
- plan and monitor animal feeding
- learn about wildlife management and rehabilitation
- study pet store design, principlesof aquatics, dog grooming, estate skills, animal biology, animal behaviour and communication
