About this course

You are expected to have:- BTEC Foundation Certificate at Merit level or above in a related subject or 2 GCSEs at grades D or equivalent (one of which must be English language). A suitable reference. A successful interview. You will be asked to complete an initial assessment to ensure you have : Literacy skills at Level 1. Application of Number at Entry Level 3 with some Level 1 skills. Mature Students may be assessed by initial assessment and interview.

Course Content:
You will study 2 core units as follows. Communication and Individual Rights; Individual Needs within the Health and Social Care Sectors. Plus the following 4 specialist units. Cultural Diversity; Anatomy and Physiology; Creative and Therapeutic Activities; The Impact of Diet and Health.

Progression:
Successful students can progress to relevant courses at level 3. This can lead to jobs such as nursing, social work and residential care management. If you want to get a job straight away, you could work and train in: Registered care homes; Hospitals and Primary Care Trusts; Nursing homes; Health Centres.
