The BTEC First Diploma is designed to develop your practical skills and knowledge of this exciting and vibrant industry. By completing this course you will be able to progress to more advanced courses or enter a variety of travel careers with a good grounding of the industry.

The topics you will study include:

· The UK travel and tourism industry
· Customer service and business skills
· European holiday destinations
· Visit planning
· Travel and tourism marketing.

This course allows you to explore a range of industry sectors, undertake practical projects and develop skills in problem solving, team working and meeting the needs of customers. These are all key requirements for employers in the travel and tourism industry. You will also have the opportunity to organise and plan a trip to a major visitor attraction in the UK.

During the course you will have the opportunity to achieve additional
qualifications called Functional Skills in English Language, Maths and ICT.

How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed throughout the course through
completed projects, assignments, presentations and other practical
activities. There are no examinations.

Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
