Course Content: This course covers a variety of functions within the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism industry and will provide you with a sound knowledge and understanding of the industry, preparing you for further study or training in this exciting area of work. It is a practical, hands on course is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential.
This full time course comprises of 8 units of study to be completed over a one year period, examples of these are:
· Starting Work in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
· Working in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
· Introducing Customer Service
· Personal Effectiveness
· Social Responsibility at Work
· Planning Trips
· Using Displays in Travel and Tourism
· Work Placement
Special Features: You will be assessed on your coursework throughout the year and one of the units of study will involve a Hospitality, Travel or Tourism work experience which you will have to secure.
The course provides students with an opportunity to develop skills, personal qualities and an attitude to succeed in working life.
You will go on several trips, where you will see firsthand how functions work in industry. Trips could include visits to local attractions, accommodation providers and theme parks.
We do ask for a contribution to your educational trips of £50.00 which is payable at the beginning of term.
Progression: When you have passed your course, you will have the option of progressing onto the BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism or the NVQ in Travel and Tourism Level 2 qualifications. Progression is subject to an interview, good attendance, punctuality, attitude and an overall Merit grade. Alternatively you may wish to move straight into employment in the Hospitality or Travel and Tourism industries.
