Brief Description of the Course:

(NB. All programmes are based on credit accumulation. Each unit of study is worth either 5 or 10 credits towards the total amount needed to achieve the qualification)

This is a level 2 introductory course in order to fit the National Qualifications and Credit Framework.

This is a broad based course which covers areas including Sport and Golf Studies.

This course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to Sport and Golf. It is extremely popular with school leavers who wish to combine a practical based training programme with sound theoretical knowledge. The course is designed to give you a broad understanding of golf studies, with a view to progressing to one of our Level 3 Diploma courses, or to start work in the golf industry.

The course allows learners to continue with their studies whilst competing and playing at a relevant level specific to their ability. As part of the course learners get weekly lessons from PGA qualified coaches as well as the opportunity to take part in the Collegiate & Prospects Tours and gain work experience at European Tour Events. Academic theory is taught in lessons that are specifically designed towards the sport of golf where possible. As part of the course you will also have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as the Sport Leaders UK & NCFE awards.

Entry Criteria:

This course covers practical skills and relevant background knowledge. Students are normally aged 16 or over and the following qualifications are needed:

  • a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade D or above to include English Language
  • or equivalent qualifications.

Progression:

Level 2 students can progress to level 3 programmes subject to published entry requirements and satisfactory performance at level 2.
