This course is intended for students who have an interest of and working in the electrical/electronic engineering industry. The course is designed to support and have relevance to practical knowledge which you will be gaining in your place of work. The course is comprised of six BTEC Level 3 National Units which can contribute towards a total of twelve Units for a National Certificate in.

About this course
The course is suitable for entrants who have already achieved four GCSE grades A-C including Maths, Science and English or successfully completed the Advanced Mathematics Course or successfully completed the Btec First Certificate/Diploma to Merit grade.

Entry RequirementsThe course is suitable for entrants who have already achieved four GCSE grades A-C including Maths, Science and English or successfully completed the Advanced Mathematics Course or successfully completed the Btec First Certificate/Diploma to Merit grade.
Entrants who have achieved grade C at GCSE will be assessed before entry.
The course is also open to adult entrants who have relevant industrial experience who wish to progress to Technician level, or to those who have begun an engineering apprenticeship in the industry which could include any engineering discipline.
You could progress to National Certificate/Diploma level and beyond.
Course Content
The National Award consists of the following level 3 Units;·Mathematics for Technicians·Selection and Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers·Electrical and Electronic Principles·Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits·Electrical Applications·Communications
How will I be assessed?
The course assessment is based upon practical/class assignments and phase tests for each Unit. All work assessed goes towards the subject grading criteria and each subject will achieve an overall grade, this computes to a qualification grade, which can be translated into UCAS points
What can I do next?
National Certificate/Diploma in; Electrical/Electrical & Electronic engineering as an additional second year (day release)
On completion of the National Certificate, Further progression is possible (depending upon grades achieved) onto a HNC in Electrical/Electrical & Electronic engineering as an additional two year Course (day release) or a Foundation Degree.
