The Diploma has 6 components. You need to acheive all 6 components to be awarded the Diploma. The components are:

2. Functional Skills
3. Additional and Specialist Learning
4. Projects
5. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
6. Work Experience


1. Principal Learning

Each student will study the following units:
  • Business Enterprise
  • Business Administration and Events
  • Personal Finance and Financial Services
  • Business Finance and Accounting
  • Marketing and Sales in Business
  • Customer Service in Business
  • Teams and Communication in Business
  • Responding to Change in Business
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Careers and Employment in Business


2. Functional Skills
These are a standalone qualification (as well as forming part of the Diploma). They provide you with an opportunity to develop and apply functional skills in English, Matchs and ICT within your sector related contexts.

3. Additional and Specialist Learning (ASL)
you will choose an additional programme of study which will allow you to deepen and broaden your knowledge.

4. Project
Enables you to work on something that really interests you when you will develop the knowledge and skills you have already learnt on the Diploma

5. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
This includes team-working, self-management, effective participation, independent enquiry, reflective learning and creative thinking.

6. Work Experience
You will be on a work placement for a minimum of 10 days.

Qualification Aims
Business, Administration and Finance Diploma (Advanced). The qualification is the equivalent of 3.5 A Levels

Assessments/Examinations
A range of assessment methods are used including assignmments, case studies, projects, 1-2-1 discussions, group work, presentations, examinations and coursework. A final grade is awarded at the end of the programme.

Cost / Equipment
A£25 (non-refundable) contributio toward educational visits is required at the start of the course.

The course is a Full Time course which is taught over 2 years, in which there is a total of 1080 taught hours. A lot of the course involves you working independently.
The course is for students who are between the ages of 16 and 18. The demands of the course are more intensive compared to those of a BTEC Nationals as the qualification is equivalent to 3.5 A Levels.

To achieve the qualification you must be fully committed and be prepared to work privately (in the evenings and weekends). You will need to balance your time effectively between home, college and social activities. To be successful you will need to do, on average, at least 15 hours per week private study.
