Modules

The following modules detail the preparatory element (the first year) of your overall programme of study. For details on modules at degree level please look at the individual course entries of your chosen progression route.

  • English language and study skills 1
    This module prepares you in academic writing in a range of disciplines, speaking, oral presentations referencing skills.
  • Business skills using information systems
    The module develops your information literacy and IT skills which are required for any degree course. Packages covered are for example Microsoft Office, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
  • Quantitative methods
    This module develops your skills in quantitative literacy required for university courses.
  • English language and study skills 2
    This modules continues to equip you in academic writing in a range of disciplines, speaking, oral presentations referencing skills.

Plus two options from:

  • Introduction to European society & thought
    This module focuses on the area and institutions of Europe as well European identity, culture, philosophy and history within a global perspective.
  • Introduction to business studies
    The module covers types of business organisation, strategic planning, business models and foundations of economic theory.
  • Business, politics and society
    This module places business into a social context focusing on issues such as sustainability, employability, the labour market and globalisation.
  • Introduction to computing technology
  • Introduction to software engineering

All modules are assessed by by coursework only, except Introduction to Business Studies and English Language and Study Skills 2 which are assessed by coursework and an examination.
