  • Studying at Coventry University has been a very knowledgable and fun experience. From getting involved with various societies to volunteering. Its been so motivational and I've grown as a person in such a short time. Students Union is very active with events and helpful too. Always providing opportunities to get involved and encouraging every student. They are the reason why I'm an active volunteer right now. I would highly recommend Coventry University to anyone!

About this course

"This course is about giving you the opportunity to develop the knowledge and expertise that will make you a successful manager and lead to the management career you are striving for. Your course initially provides an overview of the main areas any manager needs to understand in a modern business. As you progress through the course and identify your career path, you are able to choose topics that specialise in management areas that in the course you want to study in more depth. There is an emphasis on building management skills. Members of the course team have experience of senior management and consultancy and incorporate this into their teaching to relate theory to the real business world.

If you choose this course you will benefit from:

teaching staff with business experience and links who will incorporate real business projects into the teaching materials;
links with employers built over a number of years through our graduates, placements and applied research activities;
exposure to international business through the experience of academic staff who have worked on international projects across the world;
guest lectures from professionals and industry experts. In the past these have included representatives from IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Mastercard and Bentley. These lectures enable you to start building your professional network for future career opportunities;
studying at Coventry Business School, who are currently a member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Association of Business Schools (ABS)."

What I would highlight: Quite satisfied with my university, better than my expectations. I would recommend this university to anyone if they want to live a more of a peaceful life in a city. The best thing about my course is that it will not only enhance my business theory knowledge but along with that it will also develop my soft skills and helps me to knwo what companies are looking for in the employees. Our student union is by far the best, they organise fairs and other fun activities which would involve interaction helping international students to settle well in the university.

What I would highlight: The course at Coventry has provided me with more opportunities than any other university could. The facilities are top of the range and extra-curriculum is helping us to be better rounded and more employable. We are offered a vast amount of support and help is always available if we're struggling to adapt to this new life style. Meeting new people, the first experience of going clubbing has been great, lots of responsibilities as I am living alone such as cleaning my room and cooking for myself. University has been a freedom for me as I can do what I want to do. Transferable skills, lots of advertised placements, work placement fairs, guest lectures from different companies etc

Course programme

"WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The first year explores a wide range of business subjects that provide the foundation for your degree. You also start to develop the professional and academic skills necessary for a business career.

The second year considers a strategic view of organisation management that brings together all the subjects in the course. The development of communication, presentation and interview skills also supports career planning and graduate employment.

In the final year you can choose to specialise in a particular area, for example Business Ethics, Supply Chain Management or Global Business Management. This can tie in directly to the area of business you want to work in and is something you will be able to discuss at interviews to show where your interests and motivations lie.

HOW WILL THIS COURSE BE TAUGHT?

Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars and workshop practical classes. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed is as follows: formal examinations 40%; coursework, tests, essays 30%; practical or project work 10%; group work etc. 10%; presentations, posters etc. 10%.

A compulsory Add+vantage module must also be completed: please see thepage on the Add+vantage scheme for more details.
