Five days per week to include placement sessions. A minimum of 90% attendance is required.

Description of the Course
This is a full time, Level 1 course which provides an introduction to working with children between the ages of 0 to 8 years. You will undertake part of your course at College and part in training placements in the community so that you will gain experience with pre school age children.

Units:

· Personal Development.
· Human Growth & Development from Birth to Old Age.
· Food & Nutrition.
· Health & Safety Practices in the Home & Group Settings.
· Care of Children.
· Play & Practical Activities.
· Orientation to Work Programme.
· Key Skills.
Plus Tutorial and a Multiple Choice Test.

Assessment
Who is the course for?
The course is suited to school leavers interested in working with children.
Entry requirements
An average of Grade E for 2 or more GCSEs or you will have successfully completed an Entry Level 3 programme. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and skills in an interview. If you dont have the required entry qualifications there will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate your abilities to undertake the course.
What can I do after this course?

· CACHE Certificate in Child Care and Education (CCE) or other associated Level 2 course e.g GNVQ Health & Social Care, NVQ Level 2 in Childcare.
· Supervised employment.

Students should be aware that in order to attend mandatory work placememts they will be required to complete a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.
