About this course
You are expected to have:- GCSE Grade C or above in 3 National Curriculum subjects, including English Language, or relevant OCNs at Level 2/3, BTEC First Merit / Distinction, NVQ2 or the CACHE Certificate Level 2. Evidence of working at level 2 literacy and at level 1 numeracy. An enhanced CRB check. A suitable reference. A successful interview Mature students may be assessed by initial assessment and interview.

Course Content:
You will be studying English and Maths alongside the childcare units which are the following 8 mandatory course units: An Introduction to Working with Children; Keeping Children Safe; Development from Conception to age 16 yrs; The role of the Practitioner; Supporting Children; Promoting a Healthy Environment for Children; Children¿s Play and Education; Caring for Children. You will also study 3 optional units and 1 practical unit for 50% of your training.
The Course will provide you with a qualified status to work in a wide range of nursery and childcare settings. Assessment will be through assignments and work experience. You will also need to successfully pass an external written examination during the first year of your course and a research project at the end of the course.
Progression:
Successful students have progressed onto the Foundation degree in Early Childhood Studies or relevant undergraduate programmes including Social Work, Teaching or Nursing.
