City and Guilds

Level: This is an NVQ Level 4 course.

What is the NVQ Care Level 4 course?
This NVQ Level 4 qualification is a nationally recognised qualification which the Government recommends for all those working as managers, proprietors or supervisors in the nursing and care environment. Students must hold an NVQ Care Level 3 or equivalent qualification. It is also necessary that you speak to the Programme Manager before enrolling.

The course is competence based, and depends on the student being in an appropriate work setting to carry out management responsibilities, and to be assessed in that role.

NB An interview is required before you can enrol on this course.

• Management of people
• Management of resources
• Setting up and monitoring quality control systems
• Personal effectiveness skills eg Time Management and Personal Organisation

All topics will be closely related to the candidate's work environment.

Teaching and Learning
You will attend taught sessions at College which will include portfolio building to assist you in your evidence collection. There will be individual tutorials to assess existing competence and to develop your managerial skills.

You will be allocated an assessor who will carry out observations of you in your workplace.

Assessment details
You will be given a City and Guilds assessment pack and you will be required to produce a portfolio which will be both internally and externally verified.
