About the course:
The Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions, and the assessment is based on the candidate showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification.
Course Content:
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Carry out safe working practices
- Building methods and construction technology
- Produce basic woodworking joints
- Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools
- Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
Learning Style:
The course will offer the Learning Styles of V.A.R.K which comprises of:
- Visual
- Auditory
- Reading/Writing
- Kinaesthetics

CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
- 2H Pencil

WORKSHOP ACTIVITIES
- Adequate Safety Footwear
- Bib and brace/overalls
Assessment:
Assessments are sub divided into two sections:
- Practical competences and skills
- Job knowledge questions and/or assignments
Progression:
Once you have achieved this unit it would be advantageous to find an Employer to gain an apprenticeship through City Training.
Alternatively you could progress to the Diploma level 2.
