This coursse is an introduction to the principles of mould making with silicone and casting with resin and Jesmonite. Make moulds from your own designs or found objects, and experiment with colour to produce unique replicas and repeat editions.

About this course

- Make a master of your own design with modelling materials.
- Make a one part relief and split mould
- Demould castings.
- Mix and add colour to epoxy resin and Jesmonite.
- Best practice/Health and Safety considerations.
- Sand and polish casting.

Materials are supplied. Feel free to bring small objects or your own designs for casting. All items may not be suitable for casting, but do bring them along for the tutors guidance.

NOTE: For safety reasons open footwear should not be worn in the workshop, rm308. Please wear appropriate footwear and sensible clothing. Aprons and PPE are provided..

Course programme

Through practical demonstrations both to the group and to individuals. Group discussions and feedback are encouraged. You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, handouts and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations. You will be taught by Liane Wolf. Liane is a jewellery designer and maker from Australia, and has a background in Fine Art, majoring in painting at the National Art School in Sydney. She has been making jewellery since 2000 and teaches metalwork, resin, colouring anodised aluminium, silicone mould making and Keum Boo.
