Where is the course? Centre for Lifelong Learning (28-42 Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, London N4 2DG)

What is this course about? These courses are for students who are interested in catering. The course runs a café project and thus provides direct practical experience.

Who is this course for? The course is for adults 19 or over who need to develop their literacy, language or number skills as well as begin a vocational course.

What do I need to get on the course? No formal qualifications are required.

What will I study? Entry Level courses focus on food hygiene, menu planning, using money, team working, basic cooking and customer service. The Level 1 courses follow units from the ABC Hospitality and Catering. These will include a range of options, eg food preparation and hygiene, international cookery, vegetarian cookery, customer service.

What qualification will I get? Entry Level students work towards an OCR Entry Level Certificate in Literacy or Numeracy and an (optional) Edexcel Entry Level BTEC Certificate In Skills For Working Life (Hospitality And Catering).
Students at Level 1 work towards the ABC Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Skills.

What can I do after the course? It is possible to progress to the next level or to a college offering a vocational course at Level 2.
Experience may enhance employment prospects and employability skills.,

How do I get on the course? Come in to the Centre for Lifelong Learning, 28-42 Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park N4 to a drop-in session Thursdays 1.30-3.30pm from 20 September to 22 November (except half-term 25 October).

How much does the course cost? Courses are free for UK residents who have been in the country for at least 3 years.
