About the Course
This one-year course has been designed as an introduction to basic administrative practice.
The course consists of five units which reflect the following important administrative skills necessary for all office roles: communicating in writing, working with colleagues and customers, working in business organisations, following office procedures and using IT.
• Communicating in writing
You will learn how to prepare routine business communications eg, letters, emails, messages and forms using appropriate and accurate English.
• Working with colleagues and customers
You will learn how to work as a member of a team to complete set tasks within a given deadline. You will also learn how to communicate effectively with customers both face-to-face and by telephone.
• Working in business organisations
You will find out how the role of junior administrator contributes to the effectiveness of an organisation.
• Following office procedures
You will gain the practical skills required to operate a variety of standard equipment eg, photocopiers, fax machines and learn about routine office tasks such as dealing with incoming and outgoing post.
• Using IT
You will gain the IT skills to enable you to produce a document using a variety of basic computer functions and formats eg, inserting a table, creating a folder, changing line spacing.
Alongside the course you will also learn how to touch type to produce accurate work, develop your proof reading skills and produce and present a range of business documents. This will enable you to gain the skills which all employers require if you wish to become a junior administrator. You will undertake a period of work experience in a local business to increase your understanding of the business environment and have the opportunity to use your new administrative skills. This course can be combined with GCSEs to give you good employability skills.

This course is aimed at students who are considering a career in Business Administration.
The course will provide you with the essential knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed for employment as a junior administrator in many different types of business.

Assessment is by a mixture of formal examination, internally-set assignments and externally-set and moderated assignments.

No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
