The course is for one year, 2 lessons a week, and is mainly student-centred. Students will initially learn to touch-type (using the correct fingers for the specified keys) - this leads to accurate and fast typing.

They will then learn about the applications of Word 2007 and transfer this knowledge to the relevant OCR Award/Certificate they wish to attain. This includes proof-reading skills, document layout and OCR examination standards.

On-going assessment is via exercises, timed tests and past examination papers. Self-assessment is encouraged by proof-reading one's work and evaluating own performance.
