Students may choose to take the Level One National Test.

What is the course about?
ESOL for work is designed to meet the immediate English language needs of people in, or seeking work, in the UK. It focuses on language for the workplace. The qualification allows students to gain language confidence and improve their employability. There is a stress on understanding and communicating and less on writing.

What are the course outcomes?
Improved practical English skills in essential workplace matters.

How will you be assessed?
By assessments in (1) Reading and Writing and (2) Speaking and Listening, that form part of one assignment. The assessments are chosen from a range of work related topics. These might include:
Getting to work
Dealing with customers/clients
Communicating with colleagues
Food hygiene
Getting paid
Rights at work (eg. holidays, trade unions, minimum wages)
Equality and diversity
Students are working towards a Level 1 certificate in ESOL for Work. The writing is assessed at Entry 3. The tests are taken in class time at the College.
