Course programme

The course consists of four core modules that cover a broad range of management areas:

Managing People

This module will help you develop the knowledge and skills required for effective working relationships in your management and leadership roles. We review your people management skills in relation to the work context using frameworks and ideas from social psychology and human resource management.
Managing Finance and Information

This module helps participants to understand how finance and information systems impact on operational and strategic business decisions. From a practical perspective the teaching and learning process will help you to understand how decisions are made in your organisations and how you can reconcile financial and performance data in your decision making practice.
Managing Oneself: Personal Development

This module encourages you to explore models of personal and professional development. On completion of this module you will know how to produce a learning and development plan that addresses the gap between current and expected level of performance.
Managing Operations, Projects and Services

This module introduces the fundamental principles of Operations and Project Management; looking at how organisations deliver goods and services that will satisfy the customers' needs, whilst making most effective use of resources. This can only be achieved by giving attention to the design of products, processes, and the work for employees; as well as through the competent planning and control of operations and projects.
The course puts emphasis on the development of both academic and practical skills. We’ll provide you with the opportunity to learn from your workplace experiences of handling real management issues, and enhance this with concepts and theories to help you see the bigger issues affecting organisations.
