On this practical course you will learn a quick and effective way of giving your puppet realistic movements, expressions and lip synch behaviours which you can then export for compositing in After Effects CC or other editing software. You will learn how to build a puppet character in Photoshop using basic drawing tools, selection tools and layers. You will then learn how to import the file into Character animator CC where you will modify your puppet, and, using a webcam, record the performance for your puppet which you can modify and fine tune.

About this course

- understand the Character Animator CC interface and workspaces
- import files into Character Animator CC and create scene’s and timelines
- record and track performances
- understand how to tag layers appropriately for tracking movement
- modify and fine tune the performance of your puppet
- export your puppet animation for compositing in After Effects CC or Premiere Pro CC.

The latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.).

You will be taught using a range of techniques including, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Animation, Cartooning, Digital arts, Film, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design.
