Construction and the Built Environment - Built Environment
The Chartered Institute of Building Certificate & Diploma in Site Management(2010/2011)
Study Method:
The emphasis is on group participation and mutual learning with guidance from the course tutor. You should be prepared to spend time in private study and coursework, in addition to attendance at the college. The course normally runs on a Tuesday from mid-afternoon through to the evening.
Duration :One year for each Certification and Diploma course
Part time day or evening options available
Who the Course is For:
The scheme is designed to meet the needs of those employed in, or training for site management. Gaining the Site Management Certificate and Diploma provides evidence to employers and clients that a nationally recognised level of studies has been successfully completed
Assessment:
There are no formal examinations at the end of modules for the Certificate or Diploma. The course tutor evaluates your progress through each module and if this and attendance are satisfactory, the module will be entered by the tutor in you CIOB Site Management Record Bood (provided to every student). The minimum satisfactory attendance is 80%
Course Leads To:
After completion of both the Certificate and Diploma, the institute then judges your award to be an equivalent level to a BTEC HNC in Building Studies.
The scheme is recognised as a means of upskilling and may attract funding if you are unemployed.
Also grants are available to employers within scope to the CITB.
Membership of the CIOB is a requirement for course members, but Site Management students pay the minimum fee. There is a registration fee to join the Site Management Scheme

The 14 modules may be taken in any order with a minimum of 7 modules to be gained before award of the certificate. A further minimum of 7 modules gained will result in the award of the Diploma.
