Children’s authors are now expected to visit schools, libraries and festivals to talk about their work, their life and to inspire the next generation of readers and writers, but writers are often reluctant to leave their desk and step out into the spotlight. This course will explore the essential elements to a successful author talk/school visit and give hints and tips to ensure that your school visits are a success for you and your audience.
The tutor:
Jo Franklin is an internationally published children’s author. She has written for all ages but is currently focussing on writing for 8-10 year olds. She also writes for the educational market, works as a creative writing mentor and a workshop leader for kid’s writing clubs. She studied creative writing at City Lit in the 1990s and returned in 2008 to join the Writing for Children programme. Help! I’m an Alien and Help! I’m a Genius are out now.
