Summary:
NVQs are nationally recognised awards. The award enables a candidate to prove competence for the work they already do in their settings. The course is designed for those working in early years occupations such as nursery workers, classroom assistants, playgroup workers and childminders. Level 4 candidates will be working in management positions.
Course Length:
18 months. Start dates in September, January and April with further dates available subject to demand.
Entry Requirements:
Current work in the field of childcare in a management position.
Assessment:
You will be allocated assessment time by City College and you will be supported by an allocated assessor during the length of your qualification. NVQ assessors will observe your achievements and skills in your workplace and will aid you to collect a portfolio of evidence for assessment. There are no examinations.
Attendance is flexible to meet your individual needs. More information will be available at induction.
Academic Progression:
On completion of the course you can progress to a Foundation Degree or Management qualifications.
Career Progression:
Manager in a Children's Centre. With further training or study; Early Years Professional Status or Teaching.

Mandatory units
The mandatory units are:
- CCLD 401 Establish and develop working relationships
- CCLD 402 Support policies to practice to safeguard children and ensure their inclusion and well-being
- CCLD 403 Support programmes for the promotion of children's development
- CCLD 404 Reflect on, review and develop own practice
