The apprenticeship will enable those working in the Childcare Sector to become occupationally qualified and comply with the mandatory requirements of the Ofsted National Standards. Suitable for: Employed people over 16 years who work with children and young people aged 0 to 16. This award is aimed at. those working as childminders, day care supervisors, SureStart workers and community nursery nurses who may have some supervisory responsibilities, such as being in charge of room.

Course outline:
An apprenticeship is a framework of qualifications designed to support the development of
occupational competence of employees. The apprentice completes the NVQ, the Certificate in Children’s Care Learning and Development, Key Skills Communication and Application of Number and a short course on Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
Delivery:
Learning is usually provided by attendance at a series of small group learning sessions arranged according to the employers requirements, normally in the evenings. The NVQ is assessed by observation in the workplace and testimony of the learner’s practice, supported by questioning of knowledge to provide evidence of competence.

Usual Duration: 18 months - 2 years
Progression: NVQ Level 4, Foundation Degree and access to Higher Education
